How much does Google Maps SEO cost in Thailand in 2026?

Getting onto Google Maps starts free, but ranking does not. Here are the real price bands in Thailand, what each one actually buys, and how to tell a cheap package from wasted money.

Short answer first: claiming a Google Business Profile to appear on Google Maps costs 100% nothing. Google charges no fee for signing up, verifying ownership, or adding your name, address, phone number, hours and photos. What you pay for is the work that makes that profile outrank the shop across the street. In Thailand the real market sits between 6,900 and 50,000 baht a month, and the difference comes down to how much ongoing work is actually included and whether anyone reports it back to you.

Google Business Profile costs nothing; ranking does not

Open Google, type your business name, and you will see a prompt saying your business is not on Google yet. That is where claiming starts, and every step of it is free: the sign-up, the ownership verification by postcard, email or video, and the basic details of name, address, phone, hours and photos. If somebody charges you to register your GBP, they are selling you something Google already gives away.

What is not free is showing up before the shop two doors down. That takes real, repeatable work: choosing categories that match what people actually search, writing a description with Thai search terms in it, refreshing photos, replying to every review, and keeping your name, address and phone number identical everywhere including your own website. None of that is a one-off fee. It is labour that has to continue.

  • Claiming and verifying a GBP: 100% free, with no monthly fee from Google
  • The real cost is optimisation and ongoing maintenance
  • You must always own the GBP; never let an agency hold the account

Three real price bands for Google Maps SEO in Thailand

Comparing the Thai market with what we charge ourselves, pricing splits cleanly into three bands.

The first band is 2,000 to 5,000 baht a month. Most of it is freelancer work or a one-off profile tidy-up. In practice you get the initial form filled in and then nothing: no ongoing work, no report, and nobody watching when a competitor overtakes you. A 2,000 baht package usually delivers nothing at all.

The second band is 6,900 to 15,000 baht a month, and this is where most Thai SMEs should be. It covers profile optimisation, Thai keyword research, on-page work on your site, and a monthly report. Our own pricing starts here at 6,900 baht a month with a three-month minimum.

The third band is 15,000 to 50,000 baht and up. That is established agencies or multi-location work that has to be managed in parallel. It suits businesses with several physical outlets, or in-house teams that are already stretched.

Price does not equal quality in a straight line. The 2,000 band is cheap because there is no work in it, while the 50,000 band is expensive because there are more people and more branches, not because every hour is twice as good.

  • 2,000-5,000 baht/month: usually a one-off tidy-up with nothing after
  • 6,900-15,000 baht/month: the right band for most Thai SMEs
  • 15,000-50,000+ baht/month: multi-location or in-house team overflow

Our three Google Maps SEO tiers, with what each one includes

We keep three clear tiers, the same price for everyone, with no hidden fee and nothing that turns out to be an extra later.

Starter at 6,900 baht a month covers the Google Business Profile end to end: claiming ownership, categories, hours, services and description. It also covers on-page work on up to five pages of your site, plus a monthly report.

Growth at 12,900 baht a month adds a steady stream of content, link building, technical SEO, and GEO, which means getting the business recommended inside AI answers from ChatGPT and Gemini.

Pro at 24,900 baht a month is for multi-location businesses that need more content volume and a strategist assigned specifically to them.

Every tier has a three-month minimum, because month one and month two are foundation work and rankings have not moved yet. Anyone guaranteeing you a number-one ranking inside the first month is selling something that does not exist.

  • Starter, 6,900 baht/month: GBP + on-page on up to 5 pages + monthly report
  • Growth, 12,900 baht/month: adds content, link building, technical SEO and GEO
  • Pro, 24,900 baht/month: multi-location plus a dedicated strategist

Doing it yourself against hiring out: the real 12-month cost

Doing it yourself costs time rather than money. If you genuinely can do it and can give it four to six hours a week, you save the entire service fee, at the price of hours you are not spending with customers or selling.

Hiring too cheaply usually costs more in the long run. If nothing has moved by month three, you typically pay for three more months before you discover the package was never doing real work. That money plus the lost time is a cost nobody counts.

The formula we walk clients through is simple: multiply the monthly fee by the number of months, then divide by the number of queries that actually reached page one. If that number comes out worse than hiring at the normal price, the package is not worth it.

One thing people overlook is that the Google Business Profile stays yours. If you stop, you keep the profile, the reviews, the photos and the whole history. Put that in the contract on day one rather than asking about it when you leave.

  • Do it yourself: free in cash, but 4-6 hours a week in time
  • Hiring too cheaply: usually costs more once dead months are counted
  • State in the contract that the GBP, reviews and photos are yours

Five warning signs that a price is too good to be true

A low price is not automatically wrong, but five signs tell you the package will not work.

First, no monthly report. If you cannot see which queries moved and which did not, paying is a feeling rather than a decision. Second, no Thai keyword research. Thailand searches mostly in Thai, so an English-only approach misses almost all of the local demand. Third, a guaranteed number-one ranking. Nobody can guarantee it, because proximity bias means even a perfect profile still loses to a nearer shop for some searchers. Fourth, they will not let you own the GBP. This is the most dangerous sign of the lot. Fifth, a one-off sale with no ongoing work, since Maps rankings are maintained rather than achieved once.

If two or more of these appear in the same quote, move on without negotiating.

  • No monthly report means you are paying unmeasurably
  • No Thai keyword research means missing nearly all local demand
  • A ranking guarantee, or not owning your GBP, means walking away

Frequently asked questions

Can I set up Google Business Profile myself without paying anyone?

Yes, entirely for free. Signing up, verifying ownership and adding your details costs nothing from Google. What it takes is time, consistency in updating the profile, and an understanding of categories, Thai keywords and review replies. If you have several hours a week, doing it yourself is realistic.

How expensive is Google Maps SEO in Thailand?

It falls into three bands: 2,000-5,000 baht a month for packages that are usually a one-off tidy-up, 6,900-15,000 baht a month for ongoing work that delivers, and 15,000-50,000+ baht a month for established agencies or multi-location work.

How many months until my shop appears on page one of Google Maps?

For low-competition terms you usually start appearing within 4-8 weeks after optimising the profile, with measurable results at 3-6 months. Taking a top-three Map Pack spot for a competitive Bangkok term takes 6-12 months, and nobody can guarantee position one.

Is a 2,000 baht package worth it?

Generally no, because it usually buys only the initial form fill with no ongoing work, no reporting and nobody watching when you get overtaken. If the budget is tight, doing it yourself first and saving the money for a proper engagement is the better order.

If I stop the service, do I still own my Google Business Profile?

Yes. The profile, reviews, photos and complete history remain yours, with no lock-in. Specify this in the contract on day one so there is no ambiguity later.
